Find Out the Best Time to Get Pregnant – Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant
For any couples who want to conceive, the first thing they ask will be when is the best time to get pregnant.
As long as both of you are perfectly healthy and don’t have infertility issues, finding out the best time to get pregnant will substantially raise your odds of conceiving.
If getting pregnant is what you truly desire, then the first thing you need to do is to be able to predict your ovulating days. Your most important job is to figure out when you’ll be most fertile – the days that you’ll have sexual intercourse to increase your chances of getting conceived.
First, before you proceed to find out your best time to get pregnant, let’s learn a bit about your own body and how it functions before you calculate your possible dates of ovulation.
The period between ovulation and the first day of your menstrual cycle (i.e. first day of your period) is known as the luteal phase. This period is 14 days long, and is usually the same for most women. After 14 days of the ovulation, your period starts.
Next, what you need to know is the date due for the next period. By deducting 12 to 16 days from the due date of next period, you’re likely to estimate the days of your ovulation. Usually, if you have a regular cycle of 28 days, you’ll ovulate on day 14 (counting fom the first day of your period).
The ovulation date can also be checked through the Basal Body Temperature (BBT) method. This is a method that requires monitoring your body temperature every morning using a fine calibrated BBT thermometer. The thermometer will show a higher reading on the ovulation day than other days.
What takes place in your body is this: your ovum (egg) starts to form and develop as your period is ending. Earliest by day 8 and up to day 12, the egg is fully developed and ready. So, your odds of getting pregnant are the highest if you have intercourse on the 8th, the 10th and the 12th day. This is the best time to have sexual intercourse to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
While in general we believe that an egg can live up to the max of 24 hours, it is likely to die away in less than a day (within 16 hours) according to some fertility experts. Meaning that, your egg is good only for a period of 12 to 16 hours after ovulation.
How about the man? Yes, it seems there is also a best time to get pregnant for a man. If a couple has intercourse very frequently, it is likely that the sperm count may be less and the strength of the sperms may lack the desired vigor required for the fertility level. The sperm motility may be affected too. In contrast, if sexual intercourse is infrequent, sperms may become old and stale, and short of the desired energy. According to fertility experts, coitus performed two times a week produces the best result.
In contrast to the female egg’s short life span, the male sperm survives for 2 to 5 days within the vaginal canal. It may be fruitful to have intercourse two days earlier than the date of ovulation, so that the sperms have greater chances of meeting a living egg.
It is important to point out that by knowing the best time to get pregnant may not be enough to actually lead to a successful conception. You may want to first exclude any hidden factors that will reduce your chances of getting pregnant. Then, you would want to boost your fertility level with the help of holistic remedies or natural methods.
